Social media has undeniably become an integral part of every marketing campaign. It’s unprecedented growth rate has left all marketers feeling like they should be using it, but many not sure how to fully take advantage.
Why should my brand use social media?
If you’re looking to build a community around your brand, social media will allow you to connect with your consumers in the most immediate way possible. Engaging your audience with the right content at the right time can be a huge boost to brand advocacy – creating online ambassadors who will hit the share button and endorse you. With many brands reporting that their social sites have overtaken Google for driving search volume, social networking can also be a significant source of traffic to your website. Frankly, in this era of digital marketing, it looks weird if your brand’s not on social.
How many people are using social media?

In a 2015 Digital, Social & Mobile report, 29% of the world’s population were reported to be using social media. This number is only set to grow, to an estimated 33% by 2018. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the highest category of users are 18-29 year olds; so if this is a target audience for your brand, you really can’t afford to miss out.

So the audience is obviously there. But how do you engage with them? The rise of ‘viral’ content has created a misconception that social media brilliance can happen overnight. In some cases it can; but for the majority of cases, consistent engagement requires a strategic approach and a lot of man-hours.
